The Heart & Vascular Center at Coffee Regional Medical Center

Coffee Regional Medical Center offers heart and vascular services that extend from prevention and wellness through diagnosis and treatment to cardiac rehabilitation.

Coffee Regional Medical Center is a Level II Emergency Cardiac Care facility.

Healthcare organizations seeking ECCC designation by the Georgia DPH undergo a thorough evaluation process, including a site inspection and an assessment of emergency cardiac care processes and equipment. Once these steps are complete, the Georgia DPH uses a three-level designation system to rank the capabilities of each facility:

  • Level I hospitals perform open heart surgery and interventional cardiac catheterizations
  • Level II hospitals perform interventional cardiac catheterizations
  • Level III hospitals stabilize patients until they are transported to a Level I or Level II center.

Based on these specifications, CRMC received Level 2 designation.

Many patients with cardiac emergencies are seen each year at CRMC’s high-tech emergency department, which is open and staffed around the clock.  Coffee Regional EMS, widely considered a leader in the EMS industry, provides advanced life support as heart and stroke patients are rushed to the hospital, including the use of LifePak monitors that transmit images of the heart to the emergency department, allowing emergency physicians to decide if patients should be given a clot-busting drug while in transit.

Treatment for a heart attack starts long before a patient enters the hospital. EMS can start caring for patients immediately when they respond to a call. At the same time, they can connect with the hospital while in transport and share vital information, and by the time they arrive on site, our Cardiac Cath team is prepared to care for the patient and provide a quick & seamless transition. In emergency situations, cardiac interventions must be provided as swiftly as possible and at the highest level – our teams have repeatedly risen to provide unmatched life-saving care.

Coffee Regional Medical Center’s Cardiac Cath Lab / Coronary Intervention program is accredited by Corazon, Inc., a national leader in services for the cardiovascular specialty.

Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab)

Interventional Cardiology

Emergency & scheduled diagnostic cardiac catheterization procedures with stent placement are performed in our two state-of-the-art cardiac cath labs.

A Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory offers complete diagnostic cardiac services. It features state-of-the-art equipment to detect the presence of blockages or other evidence of heart disease, to evaluate blood flow to the heart and how well the heart is pumping, and to help determine needed treatment. The lab is directed by Windy Tanner, RN, and is staffed by physicians, nurses, and technologists specially trained in digital cardiac imaging. CRMC’s large radiology department also provides nuclear and other diagnostic imaging useful in heart disease.
