CRMC Receives Safety Award from Workers Compensation Fund

September 18, 2013

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) Workers Compensation Self Insurance Fund is pleased to announce that Coffee Regional Medical Center has received the 2012 Safety Award for their extremely low rate of compensable dollar injuries. Their loss ratio, a measure of claims paid for injuries, was less than 10% of their premium for 2012.

Carl Malmberg of McNeary, risk management consultant to the GHA fund, recently presented the award to Coffee Regional’s John Ware, Director of Engineering, Safety & Security; Sherry Thomas, Vice President Patient Care Services; Shae Spivey, Director of Employee Health; Brenda Reynolds, Director of Education; and Don Lewis, VP/Chief Financial Officer.  He stated “On behalf of GHA, we are very proud of Coffee Regional’s efforts to create a culture of safety in the workplace at CRMC.  Their results are evident in the low accident rate for 2012, and for having an efficient method of investigating and handling those claims that do occur. We congratulate the hospital and its entire staff on their excellent results”.

Said George Heck, CRMC’s President and CEO, “On behalf of our Board of Directors, Medical Staff, volunteers and our entire team of employees, we thank GHA for this award. We are committed to providing a safe environment for all who work at the medical center, and we take this responsibility seriously. The Environment of Care committee works as an interdisciplinary team to identify and correct any issues of a safety nature.  Equipment and technology play a key role in keeping our accident rate low. We believe our investment in creating a culture of safety will pay dividends for all involved, especially our patients”.
