Preserving the Health and Beauty of Your Skin

Dermatologists are physicians who specialize in diagnosis and treatment (both medical and surgical) of problems of the skin, hair, nails and the mucous membranes that line the eyes, nose and mouth. It is important to see a dermatologist if you have an area on your skin you think could be or develop into skin cancer. But in addition to skin cancer, dermatologists also treat acne, eczema, psoriasis, nail infections, warts, and some 3,000 other conditions. Dermatologists also provide treatments to improve the appearance of the skin, hair, and nails, such as minimizing acne scarring or injecting fillers or botulinum toxin (more properly known by the trade name Botox) for a more youthful look.
